South of Germany – The Rhine, Black Forest & Bavaria – 8 Days
Day 1: Frankfurt – Rhine – Heidelberg
Welcome to Germany. Arrival at Frankfurt airport and transfer with one of our touring coaches to Boppard along the scenic Rhine Valley. On the Rhine Cruise you will drive past medieval castles, orderly vineyards and romantic villages to St. Goar where you will see the Loreley rock. Lunch at Restaurant Panorama in St. Goar. Transfer to Heidelberg and a tour of the city. Here you will see the castle, the great wine vat, the university with its student jail and the Karl-Theodor-Bridge. Overnight stay in the Heidelberg area.
Day 2: Heidelberg – Black Forest – Lake Constance
Departure from Heidelberg for Baden Baden, the famous spa at the feet of the Black Forest mountains. After enjoying a wonderful panoramic view of the area, you will leave the city for Lake Titisee. The route will take you up to the High Road for superb views, then it winds through valleys and pine forests along the typical geranium-decked farmhouses to Triberg, centre of the local cuckoo clock industry. In the afternoon, transfer to Lake Constance. Overnight stay in the Lake Constance area.
Day 3: Lake Constance – Mainau Island – Hohenschwangau
Visit the picturesque flower island of Mainau with its Mediterranian charme. Travelling along the shores of Lake Constance, lined with orchards and vineyards, you will then be taken to the intriguing medieval island town of Lindau. In the afternoon you can enjoy wonderful scenic views as you travel on part of the German Alpine Road to Neuschwanstein Castle. Overnight stay in the area of Füssen.
Day 4: Neuschwanstein Castle – Linderhof Castle – Salzburg
In the morning there will be a visit to King Ludwig´s fairytale castle Neuschwanstein. Afterwards, on the way to Linderhof you will stop at the Rococo Church at Wies and visit King Ludwig´s extravagant castle Linderhof with its grotto, beautiful gardens and fountains before travelling on the German Alpine Road to Salzburg. Overnight stay at Salzburg.
Day 5: Salzburg – Munich
The highlight of this day will be the charming city of Salzburg. You will see the Mirabell Gardens, the Old Town, the imposing Hohensalzburg Fortress and Mozart´s birthplace. In the afternoon, we will say goodbye to Salzburg and leave for Munich where you can enjoy an evening in one of the famous beer halls. Overnight stay at Munich.
Day 6: Munich – Rothenburg
On the city tour of Munich you will see such highlights as the Palace of the Dukes of Wittelsbach, the English Garden, Hofbräuhaus, the Feldherrenhalle and the Olympic Stadium. At Marienplatz you will watch the clockwork figures appear at the strike of the Glockenspiel. In the afternoon the bus will take you along the Romantic Road to Rothenburg. Overnight stay at Rothenburg.
Day 7: Rothenburg – Würzburg – Frankfurt
You will wake up this morning in the medieval town of Rothenburg. This perfectly preserved town of gabled merchants´ houses, civic buildings and cobbled streets echoes of a different age. After lunch, the coach leaves Rothenburg, taking the Romantic Road to Würzburg. In Würzburg you will be able to see the impressive Bishop´s Residence and the Marienberg fortress from one of the bridges on the Main. Afterwards, it is just a short ride to the Rhine Main area. Overnight stay in the Rhine Main area.
Day 8: Frankfurt
Transfer to Frankfurt airport. End of the tour.
