History

In 1960, the company Traco Tours was founded by Wilfried Schaum. He started his business in Frankfurt/on Main, offering limousine services. Only after a few years the fleet was increased by modern coaches. From the very beginning, incoming clients from all over Europe were the company’s target group, and ever since the assistance to incoming travellers has been the task of major interest.

With Frankfurt Airport becoming an international hub attracting incoming clients from around the world who expected a wider variety of services, the company started offering the full range of services required by the customers (organizing tour guides, booking restaurants, hotels, cultural events, etc.).

When Wilfried Schaum died in 1992, the company owned 10 coaches and had a staff of 15.

His wife Annegret Schaum took over and together with her two sons Marc and Frank she expanded into new areas, increasing the fleet of coaches. In the years to come the company developed to become one of the leading operators in the incoming business, having a fleet of 35 and a staff of 50.

Since 2004 Traco Tours has been engaged in short and long-distance line operation. Among others, the Deutsche Lufthansa and renowned hotel chains, such as the Accor Group, belong to our clients.

When the European Union enlarged to include countries in Eastern Europe, we started building a network throughout central Europe. In cooperation with Hungarian and Romanian partners the companies TransContinental Tours Budapest (2004) and TransContinental Tours Romania (2007) were founded in order to meet the growing demand of clients for travelling to those regions.

In 2006 TransContinental Tours Berlin was founded, paying tribute to the importance of Germany’s capital Berlin as an exciting European metropolis.

To secure corporate identity,  the existing companies were bundled under the overall brand TransContinental Group in 2010.

With a recent fleet of 70 coaches of different comfort classes and a staff of around 110, as well as an optimum network, TranscontinentalGroup is in a position to take care of customers from all over Europe and to Europe-wide offer the full range of tourist services, including classic touring, business trips, incentives and events in the fields of politics, sports, economy and entertainment.
